Selection and admission

The number of students admitted per year is set at a minimum of ten (10) and a maximum of fifty (50) postgraduate students

Student eligibility criteria 

In order for a student application for the Programme to be taken into consideration, the candidate must comply with the minimum requirements with regard to academic and language prerequisites. 

Academic prerequisites are: 

  • Student should hold a Bachelor degree (a minimum of 180 ECTS) in either Biotechnology, Biological sciences, Agricultural and forestry sciences and technologies, Sciences for the environment and nature, Geological sciences or in the corresponding degree classes of the previous regulations or other degree acquired abroad and recognized as suitable, Architecture, Planning, Engineering (Electric, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Civil), Economy, Governance and policy-related sciences. This prerequisite must be fulfilled at the time of administrative enrolment. 
  • Applications from students in the last year of Bachelor or equivalent study Programmes will be accepted conditionally. 

Language prerequisites are: 

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English at a B2 level of the Common European Framework confirmed by language certificates specified in the Call for Applications. 

 

Self-financed students

Applicants not awarded a Joint Master scholarship grant may be admitted in the Programme as self-financed students, if they fulfil the eligibility criteria and pay the tuition fee. 

 

Required documentation 

The required documents will be annually updated in agreement with admission methodology in partner universities:

  • A completed application form, Standardized Application Form for the issue of the Letter of Acceptance to study (non-E.U. states) / Certificate of Recognition and Equivalence of studies carried out abroad form (E.U. states), completely filled out and signed. 
  • A photocopy of the student passport pages including name, date, place, and expiry date (pages 1, 2, 3 and 4). Candidates from countries belonging to the European Union can submit a copy of their Identity Card. In both situations, the identity documents must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of acceptance to studies. 
  • Certified copy of the birth Certificate. 
  • Proof of residence – the document should not be older than 6 months (issued by the respective Town Hall or the Prefecture in the home city). 
  • Certified Copy of academic degree (s) - university diploma or degree certificate indicating the final grade(s), and an explanation of the grading system of the university which issued the degree. 
  • Certified Copy of the transcript of study results and grades and their translation - A full list of passed degree courses, scores and grading shall be provided. The list must contain the name and signature of the person from the higher education institution, responsible for the conversion of the local grades to ECTS. Graduates who have not yet received their Bachelor’s Degree will submit an official certificate signed and/or stamped (depending on the standard procedure of the respective institution), issued by the institution organizing the Bachelor Degree Exam; the document should indicate the average of the study years from the faculty. 
  • Document signed by students applying for scholarship that they have not previously received a Joint Master scholarship. 
  • Certified Copy of the English language certificate, at least B2 level of the CEFR. The list of accepted certificates will be published along with the Call for applications. Students coming from countries where the official language of the state is the language in which the courses are conducted and which show, with school documents, that they have attended the courses in that language, are exempted from the requirement to present a language proficiency certificate.   
  • A cover letter (max. 1000 words) demonstrating applicant’s motivation, academic/professional background, and professional project. 
  • Curriculum Vitae (preferred format: Europass). 
  • Two recommendation letters - at least one being written by a member of the faculty from which the student has been or will be graduated. Recommendation letters should contain the contact details of the referees. 
  • Evidence of research or professional experience - If applicable, any academic publications of which applicant is the first author or a co-author should be provided. In case of publications in languages other than English, an English translation of the abstract should be provided; 
  • A medical certificate from the country of origin or residence, valid for maximum 6 months since the issuance date, containing information regarding whether the candidate is registered or not as suffering from chronic diseases, a mention that the candidate does not suffer from contagious diseases or other diseases incompatible with the future profession and whether or not he/she has a mental state compatible with the exercise of the duties of a master's student; 
  • Formal Consent for the Admission Process. 

Required documentation must be uploaded as digital copies and in English language versions (original or translated by an authorized person). 

For countries part of the Hague Convention, any study documents submitted for recognition/equivalence shall have the Hague Apostille given by the appropriate authorities in the issuing country; study documents from Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus shall have the Hague Apostille, while the other EU member states are exempted; 

For countries NOT part of the Hague Convention, study documents shall be authenticated additionally or shall be submitted together with Statements of Authenticity from the appropriate institutions in the respective country of origin; 

  • Apostilles will also not be required in cases when Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Greece have signed bilateral agreements which exclude the obligation to certify documents with an apostille. 
  • Partners are obligated to inform candidates about the specific national rules candidates need to meet, as well as the necessary documentation they need to submit, in order to enroll on the Programme. 
  • The candidate’s full name (surname, first name) will be written identically (spelling included) in all submitted documents. Any discrepancy/omission will result in the application file not being processed.
