Energy governance and policy

Energy and its interlinkages with the environment and the territory are crucial issues for the present and future of our planet, and has presented matters that have now become familiar to all: energy poverty, challenging access to energy for warming and cooling the houses, increasing energy demand due to population growth and increasing energy demand per capita, need for decarbonizing our system, pollution peaks – these are all issues that require the city planner’s attention and responsibility. This course addresses the range of policies, strategies and initiatives from the EU level to the local level. It addresses vertical coordination of policies and goals alignments. It also considered different applications of national policies at the local level, and integration of energy-related policies and funds in non-sectoral plans and documents. A general overview at global targets (including SDGs) and good practices is also included in the program of the course
